My name is Martha Elderidge and I live in Newburg Maryland on 35 acres of farm land. I have been growing food for approximately 40 years and I take great pleasure in preparing and preserving the bounty from my garden every year. Cooking is a hobby and passion for me. I have taken opportunities to learn from as many folks as possible over the years. I have learned to cook and preserve food from individuals as far back as my Grandmother. I have a love for ethnic cooking and have learned from some very wonderful Greek and Italian women. I use to make tamales with the Mexican women in Aurora, Illinois when I lived there. I have cooked with chefs in Italy and France. When I moved to the Southern Maryland area, I apprenticed with Gary Fick, owner of “The Blue Dog”, and I worked there, also. Southern Maryland is my home and one of the the places where I learned to appreciate and make local cuisine such as stuffed ham.
